I've played a lot of different football games. I really like the ease of use of the game. It's nice to be able to jump right in and play some football.
I like the fact that the stats that are generated seem to be realistic. Not the high scoring affairs you get with arcade games like madden and such.
Though I know this is a text based sim, it would be nice to have field with a football to locate where you are. That is the only visual I would recommend.
I am running xp home edition and it works great.

Thanks for the comments, Dennis. It's great to hear that you like the game. I have been playing UFL since the DOS version came out in 1996. It really is one of the great football games of all time. If you haven't already, I would suggest checking out the Commissioner section where you can create your own leagues. Then using the Edit Teams or Players section, you can rename the teams to NFL teams or college teams, or whatever. Unlike Madden and other games, UFL does not limit the number of seasons you can play, which is awesome. Watching the teams in your league grow and change throughout the seasons has always been my favorite part of UFL.
And pointing out the obvious here, UFL does have a "Ball on 49ers 39" indicator, which is the text-based equivalent of a football field indicator.
Thanks,
-Ben

Good Lord, this game has been out that long and I never found it!!!
Well, I stumbled across the link for it accidentally while researching utilities etc for Links 2003, which I'd just bought. To say I immediately downloaded it and the manuals would be a huge understatement. I've always been a big fan of stat based sport sims, being an old time player of the old Strat-O-Matic games etc., games which I've no longer been able to find. I wonder if the old text based stat games even exist any more for Baseball? If they do I sure can't find them.
I haven't installed UFL yet, something I will do just soon as I finish reading through this forum. Once I get up and running with it the next item will be finding people to play with.
This is outstanding!
