Start of Regular Season and Website
I will begin my American Football Federation inaugural regular season this week. I also will give you a sneak peak of my website which is in it's infancy but please remember I have a long ways to go with the website. Many things I want to offer on this and see what direction it takes off from there.

Re: Start of Regular Season and Website
Looking forward to seeing it. It's always interesting to see what other people are doing with UFL. Are you coaching any of the teams or just simming?steelerman wrote:I will begin my American Football Federation inaugural regular season this week. Sim or Coach?
To be honest, it is difficult for me to get away from coaching one team. I usually choose one team to coach. Although, I am tempted to try the other as well.

I think I'm probably in the same boat. I'm used to playing sim games where you would choose a team and take control of that team, rather than just simming the entire league, which I think would be a little "dry" in terms of interest. I guess it's down to personal preference, I know Ben operates his leagues from a Commissioner's point of view. Personally, I like to get emotionally involved with my team.
And reading that last sentence aloud makes me worry for my sanity.

Although I may not coach in my 2 main leagues, I am definitely emotionally involved. Rooting for my teams (49ers, Golden Bears) is why I play UFL. I am a huge fan of watching football on TV and, as strange as it may sound, UFL sims games in a watchable way better than Madden 2006. Watching a comp. vs. comp. game in Madden is like watching paint dry (unrealistic scores and play aside ), but watching and being able to follow a football game in 15-30 seconds is a unique aspect of UFL. When Larry was working on the new version of UFL I basically told him "You can do anything you want with the game, but do not mess with the speed at which games are simulated and do not mess with the 'pause' that occurs when a touchdown/field goal/safety is scored."
Anyways, I am emotionally involved. Go 49ers! Go Golden Bears!

Clarification
Let me clarify my previous post. I did not do a good job of explaining myself there. I meant to say that I choose one team in each game. In sim methods such as these, I may take control of all of the home teams in week one and two then maybe switch it up for week three and four; sometimes I may go back and forth. My enjoyment is the actual strategy of the game of football. The older I get, the more I enjoy the "chess", if you will, part of the game. Last night, I played two of the six divisions first league games. I immediately noticed that I may start another league as well and have two going at the same time due to the speed of this game. Guys, the speed of this game is exceptional. Like Ben said, playing computer vs. computer on Madden is like watching grass grow or paint dry. UFL gives you the enjoyment of playing a season without taking hours to get a result.
Back to my first games; I also noticed that I was really getting into the strategy of the UFL. In one game, I had jumped out to a 19-16 lead then kicked a field goal in the early moments of the 4th quarter to go up 22-16 then I nursed the lead and played clock management with runs and only passes when I had to have them. The strategy worked to perfection. Final score was 22-16.
Ben, this game has far exceeded my expectations! JoeMontana, you are not insane, I have been there before.

Re: Clarification
That's another interesting way of doing things. Again, the beauty of UFL is in the versatility it offers with these things. I don't think I've ever had a football sim which has given me as many options as UFL.steelerman wrote:I meant to say that I choose one team in each game. My Plans
I plan on starting a USFL league on UFL and then this fall actually do an NFL 2006 season. Joe, I have to agree. The versatility of the UFL is exceptional.
