Trade? or Stick it out?

Post by Wisnoodles »

I just lost my starting Halfback for 20 Quarters or 5 games and I am debating on trading for another starting HB or go with my backup who hasn't done much for my team this year. I ended up losing the game in which I lost my starter and am now 5-1. After I lost him my team just seemed to play horrible, couldn't run the ball at all, and my backup has horrible pass blocking ability my QB was sacked 7 times.

An alternative idea is to increase your backup's attributes in the player editor. I would justify this as "giving him additional coaching", and if you feel you need to make a sacrifice to compensate, reduce someone else's stats by the same amount? The great thing about UFL is being able to use your imagination to create stories around your game. I once lost my main WR for the season, but ended up picking up so many injuries that he became the least injured and played the last 3 games of the season and the post-season, scoring the winning TD in the Stellar Bowl!

I would like to keep everyone's attributes what they are throughout the season as I would feel like cheating. And the only way I would make a trade is if I got someone with the same attributes as the guy I lost to injury. I think I might see how Dallas O'Brien (the backup) does for one or two more weeks but I can't afford to lose my starting QB as my backups aren't very good and they are older and declining as it is. My other RB's are very good either. I think I might have to switch gears and start passing more but I always like to see my RB break one for a TD.

I often find that if I can't get my running game going, I have more success with passing to the HB and/or FB coming out of the backfield, particularly against teams who play good rush defense.

Yeah I am now 5-3 and my QB was sacked 9 times last game. I don't have any injuries on my O line I need to make a trade I think. I don't want to be 5-5 when my starter gets back.

Just lost my QB for the rest of the year, knew I should have made the trade, at least that is what I am saying. First year coach, makes first year mistakes. Live and learn. record is now 5-5, get my RB next week.

What team are you coaching? Are you using the default league or have you customised?

The only thing I customized was the team names. I am using a Mock NFL setup with confrences and divisions. The team I would be coaching if I used regular would be The Milwaukee Cougars. Don't know if the Team setups change from league to league (players on the team) or stay the same.

Whenever you start a league, it is best to create a league from the Commissioner Screen instead of modifying the default league that UFL comes with. When you manually create a league, you are given an option to randomly rename the players and randomize their ratings. If you don't do that, the results of the first few seasons will always have similar results because the players ratings have not been randomized.
