The Essential NCAAF 32

Post by Benjamin »

I am creating a creating a college football league for UFL. However, UFL only supports a maximum of 32 teams in a league, so I am forced to trim down the 118 or so teams to only 32. Here is what I have so far:

NFC West
Hawaii Rainbows
California Golden Bears
Los Angeles Trojans
Las Vegas Rebels

NFC Midwest
Utah Utes
Texas Longhorns
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Louisiana Tigers

NFC Mideast
Alabama Crimson Tide
Kentucky Wildcats
Tennessee Volunteers
Georgia Bulldogs

NFC East
West Virginia Mountaineers
Pennsylvania Nittany Lions
Miami Hurricanes
Maryland Terrapins

AFC West
Stanford Cardinal
Oregon Ducks
Washington Huskies
Arizona Sun Devils

AFC Midwest
Colorado Buffaloes
Oklahoma Sooners
Arkansas Razorbacks
Wisconsin Badgers

AFC Mideast
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Michigan Wolverines
Ohio Buckeyes
Florida Gators

AFC East
Virginia Hokies
North Carolina Tar Heels
Syracuse Orangemen
Boston Eagles

Please let me know if you see any glaring omissions.

As a UCLA fan, I'm biased, but I think I'd have the Bruins in there over Las Vegas any day. Can't do without the UCLA-USC rivalry!

FSU Seminoles, maybe?

And Hawaii, isn't their team the Rainbow Warriors?

Other than that, looks good, I had toyed with the idea of doing either a college or high school league too. I went as far as to set up an 8-team high school league using schools from around L.A (dont ask why I'm so fascinated with LA football, I'm a 49ers fan, born and bred in Glasgow, Scotland, now living in Cheshire, England! It puzzles me too...)

A thought: would you reset the age of players who reach year 4 (since they would be graduating)?

Joe, thank you for your suggestions!

I wanted the league to be broad and to include as many non-NFL states/cities possible, so I limited myself to one SoCal team. USC was the obvious choice not because of their history and recent national championships, but because UCLA beat my beloved Cal Golden Bears a couple of weeks ago and I still haven't gotten over that. :)

I chose the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators instead.

Hawaii used to be called the Rainbows, then the Rainbow Warriors, and now just the Warriors, but they will always be the Rainbows to me!

No, I would probaby run the league as a normal pro league. This would be basically a pro league with college teams.

Thanks again for the suggestions!
