Questions

Post by Killington »

Hi all

Found the UFL today, really nice game. Been looking a long time for a editable (team modification) football simulator that produces lots of statistics. This game looks really promesing. Have a few questions:

1. How are injuries dealt with? Is the injured player flagged in the depht chart some way? Is it possible to know when he will return to play? Can his stats be atomaticly alterd due to injury?

2. Will players become better from experience in some way?

3. Can individual aswell as team stats from several seasons be added in "total career stats" someway?

4. Is it possible to expand from 8 to 16 teams between seasons?

5. Can players be completely deleted during a season? If I change a name (lets say from Tim to Tom) of a player, will Tom take over Tims acheivements so far or will he start from scratch?

Regards

I don't know the answers to all of your questions, but I will answer the ones that I do.

1. ???? JoeMontana might know more about this one than me.

2. Players definitely become better with experience, just as they can decline with age and poor performances.

3. I do not believe that UFL has this capability

4. It is not possible to expand the league or reallign during the offseason.

5. Technically, players cannot be deleted. However, you can change their names as well as all of their ratings and year's experience. That would essentially be like deleting a player and creating a new one.

I hope you enjoy the game! Please let me know if you have any more questions. :)

Hi there! I was excited when I found UFL too, I'm an old-time sim (and stat!) fan.

>1. How are injuries dealt with? Is the injured player flagged in the depht >chart some way? Is it possible to know when he will return to play? Can >his stats be atomaticly alterd due to injury?

The injured player automatically moves to the bottom of the depth chart for the duration of his injury (measured in Quarters). If you're unlucky enough to have all players at one position injured, the "least" injured goes to the top of the depth chart, although his performance will still be impaired - stats are not adjusted as far as I know, but the performance is certainly decreased. As it stands, you are currently unable to see when a player will return, just note the number of quarters at the point of injury.

>2. Will players become better from experience in some way?

I don't know if it's coded into the game, I suspect there may be some kind of calculation, though, because I find my players tend to hit full performance around year 4 or 5.

>3. Can individual aswell as team stats from several seasons be added >in "total career stats" someway?

Shameful confession time. I store all my stats in an Access Database. ;-)

>4. Is it possible to expand from 8 to 16 teams between seasons?

Not as far as I know. Ben?

>5. Can players be completely deleted during a season? If I change a >name (lets say from Tim to Tom) of a player, will Tom take over Tims >acheivements so far or will he start from scratch?

Has no bearing at all on stats, as far as I'm aware. Simply treats it as an edit to the name. Again, Ben might have a definitive answer.

LOL, I was thinking that myself, and not only that, they're actually posting on the forums! I love it when I have people to discuss UFL with, without them looking at me in a strange way.

I know what you mean. Very few people understand the greatness of text based sims these days. :D

But, if a let the computer play both teams, it's hard (almost impossible) to keep track of injuries. Am I right?

Yes, it is completely impossible to keep track of injuries that occur during comp. vs. comp. games because the injury notification message will only appear when there is a human playing.

I will add "Better Injury Tracking" to the UFL Wishlist.

I downloaded this sim yesterday and find it very good and enjoyable.
I ran off a season comp vs comp. I noticed when starting the second season trades had taken place, is this the norm for this, or is their a way to bypass arbitrary trades.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum!

The off-season trades are UFL's way of simulating free agency, I guess. As it stands, there's no way to turn it off.
