I thought you guys might find this a little interesting:
I set out to create an "NFL Classic" league in UFL. This league would contain current NFL teams that have moved or been renamed (Houston Oilers, Los Angeles Raiders, etc.) in addition to defunct NFL teams from the 1920s/30s/40s/50s. I started out with a list of 76 possible teams (View the list here: http://bensweb.no-ip.info/stuff/NFLClassicList.txt) and had to cut it down to 32.
Here is the list of the final 32 teams that I chose sorted precisely from west to east: http://bensweb.no-ip.info/stuff/NFLClassicSorted.txt (The smaller town teams have their states listed in parenthesis.)
And finally, here is the final 32 teams sorted by division and conference: http://bensweb.no-ip.info/stuff/NFLClassic.txt
It is certainly an unusual league. Through 11 weeks, the Racine Legion are the championship favorites with a record of 9-2.

Unusual league, Ben, I like the idea. There's a couple in there I've never heard of, really old-time stuff. Some of them sound like they should be college teams. It's interesting to see how the team names have changed over the years, I can't imagine NFL marketing people discussing new franchises called the All-Americans, Steamrollers, Staleys, Stapletons etc.

Yes, those nicknames are really old school! I had not heard of most them until I came across some websites. I'm sure that the NFL won't resurrect the Providence Steam Rollers anytime soon.
In the first post I forgot to post my sources so here they are:
