Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

Sorry, haven't checked in for a while. I'll post Windows binaries as soon as I get it to compile under Visual C++ properly. Cross Compiling for Windows using GCC really kinda sucks. It produces quite a big file (like 20x that of Linux or so), uses unnecessary dependencies to cygwin and I'm always ha...

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

If you need help deciphering the VB code, I can offer assistance. I think I still have my VB5 and VB6 disks around somewhere. :) I can't speak for all the people who tried their luck, but the Problem for me personally was less the deciphering of the VB source, but more the fact that the design of t...

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

Well at the moment the play is pretty much to get the Engine up to a point I can expand upon (ie integrating penalties, injuries, weather, coin toss and some AI aspects that I didn't solve too well previously on the top of my head). Then there's all the interface work (which will be more obvious cha...

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

Just pushed a beta of a GUI into Git (and added Bianries for Windows again ) It's pretty much just a GUI Version of the Console Thing I already posted, which means the Play Selection kinda sucks (I'm probably gonna do something like it is in UFL 2 again, as it's just faster than navigating through t...

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

Ok it's been another two years and I'm not even sure if there is still somebody here who cares enough, but I haven't actually stopped developing (well I did for a whole long while), but kept fooling around with some ideas and prototypes over the past months. I also took a lot of time to examine how ...

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

nutritious: First of all I'm very sorry I let you down back then. I know I should have talked to you about it, but I just thought I would never be able to finish the engine and I was kind of tired of spending all my time developing it and I really couldn't keep on staying up until 2AM on school days...

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

Thanks, I haven't had too much time lately as school's been quite hard on me now, but I'll continue working on it soon.

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

Ok, I couldn't make it until yesterday evening, but I finished the core part of the engine now. Most of the engine has been rewritten, except of some parts (namely the time manager) which were portable enough to just fit into the new core (actually it's smaller now, but I haven't finished the dialog...

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

Had a quick play with the new engine this morning, just a couple of comments: 1. It seems very sack-happy. In the 1st quarter alone, the sacks were in double figures. 2. Possible bug: playing 1P v Comp, the clock froze at 1:57 after the 2 minute warning and didn't move again, causing the 2nd quarte...

Re: Possible UFL 3.0 On The Horizon

Hey guys, first of all: I'm sorry for letting you down with this UFL thing; it was of course never my intention to make promises I couldn't keep, but I got really stuck in development mostly because of my limited knowledge about football. However, in the meantime (almost a year, isn't it?) I've been...

Re: How about UFL?

Ok, then you want to seperate thing a bit more like it was in the old version because I thought of calculating things like "how good can a player return a ball" at runtime using the catching and running skill in this case, because as a returner you should be good at both. Same goes to punt...

Re: How about UFL?

Thanks a lot, I'll add some more. But do we really need to seperate punt and kick return - I mean is there really such a big difference? And how do Power and Speed affect the other values - because I thought the 'power' you have to kick the ball is already inside the 'kicking' skill, same goes to 'S...

Re: How about UFL?

Ok, my kind of dayly update: Today I managed to start working on UFLs Core which is pretty boring because I haven't yet done any of the game-routines, but at school I had a lot of freetime (around 3h) where I wrote down some of the calculation routines I thought of. They need to be tested and stuff ...

Re: How about UFL?

PocketPC Version shouldn't be so complicated because there is free pascal for arm/wince (and maybe even for these old mips, but I'm not sure) so if UFL would be written in Delphi you could port it in some hours (which I could do, too of course, because I own an iPaq) - would be quite cool because Ma...

How about UFL?

Well, my name's WordsBG (or Patrick as I'm called in real life) and I joined this forum on the 3rd of April, looking for some game about football. On 7th Mai I send a mail to Ben, informing him that I would be interested continuing the programming of UFL. He even was so friendly to give me a copy of...
